Laverton Cycling Project Update December 2024!

The December and Final 2024 Update from the Laverton Cycling Project – Courtesy of Sabine Bird!

A big thanks to the Shire of Laverton for their support this month!

“Our December trip was planned to be shorter and outside of school hours, which gave us time to meet up with locals during the day and attend youth centre activities in the afternoons. The days were hot, and we watched the kids cool down at the local pool before letting them roam around on bikes or stay inside the youth centre to play pool and chat.

Whether we ride bikes, play games, or just gather and talk, this program has developed into a staple side activity for the local youths. We have seen the ups and downs of a small community for yet another year, and are grateful to have the support to be in town on a regular basis to develop steady and strong relationships, that people and kids recognise to be something positive and also exciting.

2024 has been our must successful year pertaining to the program, but it has also been one of our most familiar and emotional years, as we are developing deeper bonds to the community.

The inclusion of the two very remote communities of Mulga Queen and Cosmo Newbery this year gave us even more purpose, and we are excited to build and grow wherever we can – we look forward to 2025!

A heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to everyone who has been supporting our Laverton project, we cannot put into words how much it means to us.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!”
