ProVelo Super League Round 1: A Valuable Start to the 2026 Season
Round 1 of the ProVelo Super League provided an exciting and valuable start to the 2026 racing season, with athletes competing in one of the strongest domestic fields seen in Australian cycling.
The opening round highlighted the high standard that defines the league, offering an important opportunity for riders to test themselves in high-pressure, high-speed racing environments. Events of this calibre play a key role in bridging the gap between junior development and elite competition, delivering experiences that cannot be replicated in training alone.
Throughout the weekend, athletes were challenged both physically and tactically, gaining critical exposure to race dynamics, positioning, and decision-making at speed. These experiences are fundamental to long-term performance development and form a core part of our pathway approach.
A highlight of the round was the response shown by developing riders Theo Grant and Charlotte Hussein. After a demanding criterium, both athletes returned with confidence and intent in the road race. Charlotte launched an early move at the start of the race (seen above), while both riders demonstrated composure and a strong ability to apply feedback in real time – key indicators of progression at this level.
Our program continues to focus on building athletes through consistent exposure to high-quality racing environments, prioritising learning, resilience, and long-term growth over short-term results. By investing in younger riders and supporting their development within professional race settings, we aim to prepare them for the demands of higher levels of the sport.
The ProVelo Super League remains an invaluable platform for athlete development in Australia, and Round 1 set a strong foundation for the season ahead.
We extend our thanks to our partners and supporters whose continued backing makes these opportunities possible and plays a vital role in shaping the future of Australian cycling.
