RACING TEAMS
The Cycling Development Foundation Racing (CDFR) program offers a comprehensive approach to athlete development for aspiring junior, female, and male athletes. The CDFR provides expert-led coaching and athlete development, tailored to each individual, through evidence-based principles of sports science and psychology. We value the process of developing high performance over the achievement of high-performance outcomes alone.
This process-based approach is achieved through a comprehensive approach to athlete development, by service provider Exercise Institute, and aims to develop their life skills and cycling skills, focusing on enhancing overall well-being, resilience, and ability to navigate challenging environments: tools the athlete can then utilise across their lifespan. The athlete development pathway exists through the CDFR’s Junior Cycling Academy, Women’s Racing Team, and Men’s Racing Team.

JUNIOR CYCLING ACADEMY TEAM
The Junior Cycling Academy (JCA) provides a pathway for national championship ‘podium’ aspirational junior cyclists of any club/coach affiliation.
The program compliments existing coaching (club/private) systems and does not seek to replace either.

MEN’S RACING TEAM
The Men’s Racing team consists of junior, WAIS scholarship holders and elite male cyclists. Elite and senior athletes serve as mentors for younger generations of cyclists within and beyond the team.
Whilst the team races and engages in National Road Series races, the real focus is on the development of athletes and not results.

WOMEN’S RACING TEAM
The women’s elite Women’s Racing Team in Western Australia is a leading example of what can be achieved by people who come together with a common goal.
The team has a representation of senior experienced and young up and coming riders with a bright future. Senior riders provide leadership and advice to junior riders and provide a support network previously scarce in women’s cycling.

MASTERS RACING TEAM
In additional to our elite nationally registered racing teams we have recently added a recreational-competitive racing team for older cohorts looking to embrace cycling through competitive racing; social support and institute level training systems.
Training is facilitated through the Exercise Institute, a major partner.
