A shared belief that cycling goes beyond racing has brought the Cycling Development Foundation (CDF) together with Ride WA to grow support and participation in cycling across the State.
Ride WA Managing Director, Rebecca Cotton said they were excited to be working with CDF – Veris Racing, like Ride WA, also thinks and acts beyond racing to enable people new to cycling to gain confidence through cycling:
“We see that Veris Racing has a community conscience: that, through the CDF, it is prepared to put energy, time and resources into programs for people who need support
“The Laverton Cycling Project and Solaris Cancer Care charity events are great examples of this. CDF use the bicycle as a way of reaching out and helping make people’s live better. This makes a difference…it matters. It’s about more than the race. Same for us!”
Ms Cotton added that as organisers of events like Tour of Margaret River and SEVEN, creating Ride WA is their way of getting more people out and about exploring WA on their bikes.
“The purpose of Ride WA is to share information about events, rides, tours, parks and accommodation…and of course, people. We’d love for Ride WA to become the recognised hub for cyclo-tourism in the state.”
Under the partnership Veris Racing will be assisting Ride WA to promote events to different community sectors, support programs that enable people to participate, and have Veris Racing representation in races and events.
CDF Chairperson Raechel Paris said the partnership goals perfectly fitted with the Foundation’s core vision:
“Veris Racing wants to create sustainable and safe cycling opportunities for female, junior and male cyclists at all levels and ages. Our partnership with Ride WA will do just that for the state of Western Australia.
“It is our hope and aim to be able to partner with similar entities across Australia, and given the geographical spread of our rider representation, which now includes New Zealand, we are committed to making that a reality.”
Ride WA will start primarily with its Facebook page, acting as an online hub for people in and visiting Western Australia to source information and contacts for various cycling experiences and events.
