NEW MAJOR PARTNER – CHAMBER OF MINERALS AND ENERGY

The Cycling Development Foundation and Laverton Cycling Project are delighted to welcome the Chamber of Minerals and Energy as a major partner for the 2021 Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic.

We spoke to CME’s Chief Executive, Paul Everingham about why they chose to support the Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic:

“CME regularly supports a range of organisations that seek to improve their local communities.  In particular, CME strongly supports the communities in which we operate.

The Goldfields is the home of mining in WA.   CME has many member companies that have operations in the Goldfields.  As such, it is a region that our industry and CME want to support.

The Laverton Cycling Project seeks to provide practical health and well-being skills to young people in the WA Goldfields (and in particular young Aboriginal people).  Indigenous Australians are a very important part of the WA resources sector.  Mining and Gas projects often operate on Traditional Owner Lands and as such we often operate in partnership with Traditional Owners.  Also, the resources sector in WA employs more Indigenous people than any other sector.

CME sees our support of the Laverton Cycling Project as a valuable investment in the future of the Goldfields Community and as a practical way we can show our gratitude towards the Traditional Owners in the Goldfields.”

This is CME’s first year of involvement with the ride, and we look forward to continuing our relationship into the future
