Donovan Mackie Signs with Team Novo Nordisk UCI Pro Team for 2026 & ’27
The Cycling Development Foundation is proud to congratulate Donovan Mackie on signing with Team Novo Nordisk for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. At only 18 years of age, Donovan becomes the latest rider to progress from the CDF pathway into the professional ranks, taking a significant step into the world of UCI ProTeam racing.
Donovan joined the CDF Racing Program in 2025 after a few years riding primarily in WA. Throughout the year, he developed not only as a rider, but as a budding professional – learning how to balance training, racing, and life, whilst navigating the challenges that come with pursuing cycling at an elite level.
Donovan’s journey has been strongly supported by the group behind the Unicorn Racing Team, now continuing their involvement with CDF under the Howden Insurance banner. The guidance and belief of Mark Williamson, JC Van Der Walt, and Eddy Pope have played a defining role in Donovan’s progression, alongside a season working closely with CDF Sports Director Brad Hall. Donovan will continue to train with Brad through CDF’s high-performance provider, Exercise Institute, as he prepares for the demands of European professional racing.
CDF Sports Director Brad Hall said:
“Donovan’s opportunity with Team Novo Nordisk is a reflection of the person he is as much as the rider he’s becoming. He’s approached the last 18 months with real humility – willing to listen, to learn, and to trust the process even when faced with some real hurdles. At 18, stepping into a full European calendar is a big challenge, but Donovan has shown he’s prepared to do the work and grow through the experience. I’ve really enjoyed coaching him this season, and I’m looking forward to continuing that relationship through Exercise Institute as he takes this next step.”
The CDF also extends its sincere thanks to the sponsors, partners, and volunteers who make pathways like Donovan’s possible. The ongoing support from Howden Insurance and the wider Unicorn Racing community has helped create opportunities for young riders in Western Australia to dream bigger and progress further than ever before.
As Donovan prepares to begin his professional career with Team Novo Nordisk, we look forward to watching him represent himself, his family, and the CDF community with the same enthusiasm, character, and determination that have been hallmarks of his journey to this point.
Congratulations Donovan!
