Our update from the Laverton Cycling Project in October!

Program coordinator, Sabine Bird, sent us this update following her monthly visit to Laverton.

“The communities were full of kids this month, which was great! Plenty of bike riding, skills practice, and laughs. Nice to see new faces in town, too.

In Cosmo Newberry, it was all about games on bikes, in Mulga Queen, we practiced hiding behind a bigger rider to get shelter from the strong wind, and tried to learn about the air we breathe, while in Laverton, it was more about roaming and riding through the streets and getting around. It was a perfect visit with plenty of variety and in warmer weather again.”

A big thanks this month must go to Maree Laffan, who joined Sabine to document the visit:

A note from Brad Hall, CDF Board Director:

“What began over 8 years ago as a 2-week pilot has become a year-round commitment to Laverton. In a town where connection matters deeply, cycling has proven to be more than just exercise – it’s a pathway to health, autonomy, and belonging. Our role is to support these connections, working alongside local groups to create lasting impact. Thank you to all who make this possible – your support helps sustain one of Australia’s longest-running remote cycling programs.”
