PERTH-LAVERTON CYCLING CLASSIC RIDER JERSEY

The Perth – Laverton Cycling Classic team are proud to present the 2021 rider jersey.

The Jersey will be worn by the riders in the Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic for the duration of the ride.

The Jersey design was chosen by the 2020 Perth-Laverton Riders as the winner of the 2020 Laverton Emerging Art Prize (LEAP) award.

School children from the Laverton Remote School were given the opportunity to design and submit their own jersey artworks, which were then put on display in the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts. The designs were displayed at the gallery with each entry having the child’s name, school grade and a short description of the artwork by the child.

Two prizes were awarded, one being the Riders Choice and the other being the Community Prize, chosen by the Laverton Community. The prizes are generously donated by Great Boulder Resources, a junior exploration company which has interests in the Laverton region.

This year the designs will be on display for judging when the Perth-Laverton Cycling Classic riders arrive in Laverton during the Laverfest celebrations, with the winning design to be used for the 2022 Perth-Laverton Ride Jersey.

Following that, all artworks will be on display at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts from November 11-15, along with artworks from the Western Desert Communities gathered by the Laverton Cross Cultural Association and their Outback Gallery in Laverton. This artwork is for sale with a portion going to the Laverton Cycling Project via the Cycling Development Foundation.
