SMEC have recently reconfirmed their support for the Laverton Cycling Project for the 3rd consecutive year via the SMEC Foundation. SMEC have been involved in this project since inception and are eager to see sustainability reached with the program’s focus on employing local champions to deliver programs moving forward.
Barry Wilson; SMEC Western Australian Manager, experienced firsthand the interaction with the Laverton Local Community and the Children.
“ Who loves riding a bike” was the question asked by Barry at the Laverton School assembly; every child put their hand up; the enthusiasm and excitement shown by the Children was heart felt.
We hear from Barry Wilson about this exciting partnership:
“The SMEC team in Perth are excited to be supporting the Cycling Development Foundation with the Laverton Cycling Program for the third year; this program that combines health and wellbeing through cycling is close to our hearts; the results that are being achieved are testament to the hard work of all the people involved. “
Mary Tennant; Chair Director for the Cycling Development Foundation also reiterated:
“SMEC’s continued support of this program is incredibly humbling. Barry and the Perth team have been huge advocate’s of the program, both in funding and hands on support. To see their enthusiasm in assisting this venture has allowed the program to get closer to sustainability and facilitated real progress moving forward. They have been critical to the programs success.”
Barry and members of the SMEC team will be participating in the Perth Laverton Cycling Classic which raises funds and awareness for the Laverton Cycling Project
