ProVelo Super League Round 6: Q Tour

Round 6 of the 2026 Hertz ProVelo Super League brought the team to the Q Tour in Queensland, marking the end of a demanding five-week block of racing.

Featuring two circuit-based stages followed by a highly selective road stage in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, the tour provided another opportunity for athletes to continue developing race execution across varied conditions and terrain.

The opening two stages were held on straightforward circuit courses, placing an emphasis on positioning, technical execution, and the application of race tactics.

For the women’s team, these stages highlighted an important area of ongoing development, with continued focus required on race craft and execution within the bunch. The ability to consistently position well and respond to race dynamics remains a key priority alongside continued progression in training load and fitness.

The men’s team showed a higher level of cohesion across these stages, working together to position riders for the finish. During Stage 2, the group was well placed to execute a clear race plan before a crash in the finale, and subsequent race neutralisation disrupted the outcome.

Stage 3 presented a significant challenge, with a hilly and highly selective course through the Sunshine Coast hinterland, combined with heavy rainfall creating extremely difficult racing conditions.

In the women’s race, a large number of riders were brought down in crashes across the course. Talia was riding strongly inside the top 10 before the race was shortened due to the number of incidents requiring medical attention. Talia and Charlotte were both involved in crashes but were able to continue, while Miriam and Carly completed the stage in challenging conditions.

The men’s race was similarly impacted. Jaco crashed early in the stage and required medical attention, later spending time in hospital for assessment before being cleared to return home. Cameron continued on to finish the stage, showing resilience across a difficult race.

Across the tour, the group was exposed to a range of race scenarios, reinforcing key areas for development in both execution and preparation.

With many athletes currently in the early stages of their development, these experiences remain an important part of building the competencies required to perform at this level. The learnings taken from this block will continue to inform training direction and preparation moving forward.

The team now transitions out of a demanding period of racing, with a clear understanding of the areas required to progress.

As the ProVelo Super League campaign concludes, we would like to thank all of our partners and supporters for their continued backing throughout this period.

Outside our team racing bubble, we also had a couple of great CDF racing team results with April Foster taking home a pair of 4th place finishes at the Australian MTB Championships at Mt Buller in the XCC & XCO disciplines. Well done, April!

Cam Fraser decided he needed a bit more racing, as if five straight weeks of Provelo weren’t enough… taking the win at the infamous Tuesday Night Heffron criterium in Sydney, his second for the summer.

The focus now shifts to the Oceania Championships in Brisbane on April 10, followed by a range of local and multi-discipline racing opportunities. Looking further ahead, the program will again take on its annual Belgian racing campaign mid-year, alongside several exciting international tour racing opportunities for both the men’s and women’s teams.
