Laverton Cycling Project: June Update

Program coordinator Sabine Bird shares another update from the Laverton Cycling Project, with June focused on strengthening partnerships, expanding community engagement, and laying the foundations for the program’s next stage of development.

The visit began with a new initiative alongside project partner Regis Resources, delivering an indoor cycling fitness session for site employees.

Following baseline assessments of fitness, mood and strength, participants completed a structured interval session before receiving practical guidance on maintaining a manageable four-week training program around their work commitments. The group will be reassessed next month to track both physical and wellbeing outcomes.

Beyond the session itself, the initiative reflects the project’s growing ambition to support health and wellbeing across the broader Laverton community.

Meanwhile, the youth cycling program continued throughout the week, with after-school sessions once again bringing local kids together on bikes while providing opportunities to stay active, build confidence and connect with one another.

The visit also provided valuable time to meet with local stakeholders, strengthen existing relationships and explore new opportunities across the region.

“We spent several days in Laverton running our after-school bike program, meeting with every stakeholder we hoped to speak with, and exploring fresh opportunities to deepen our presence in the community,” Sabine said.

Discussions ranged from future community projects and partnership opportunities through to local history, cultural sites and new riding locations, all contributing to the long-term vision for the project.

“New trails, new projects, local history, cultural sites, and stronger partnerships, all pointing toward a more connected relationship between Laverton and the CDF.”

As the Laverton Cycling Project continues to evolve, each visit builds on more than just the previous month’s activities. It strengthens relationships, creates new opportunities and reinforces the Cycling Development Foundation’s long-term commitment to supporting healthier, more connected communities throughout the Goldfields.

“Now, the real work awaits… We are onto it!”

Thank you to all of our partners and supporters for continuing to make the Laverton Cycling Project possible.
