Giant Bicycles to partner the Cycling Development Foundation

Giant Bicycles and the Cycling Development Foundation (CDF) today announced a continuing partnership that reflects the joint commitment to supporting cycling development in Western Australia.

The ongoing partnership will mean the supply of Giant Bikes to men and women appointed to the  2017 Veris Racing Team. In return, athletes will contribute to projects and initiatives delivered by the CDF that promote cycling in the community and specifically foster growth amongst juniors and women.

Local representative Matthew Allan said Giant Bicycles in WA are excited to be a partner of the Cycling Development Foundation.

“We see the direction and ideals are in line with our own promoting cycling to the broader community.  In particular encouraging women and juniors into cycling as an activity and as a sport”, said Mr Allen.

“This is a unique initiative in our local community which encompasses not only elite sport but most importantly participation across all levels of cycling from children to enthusiasts to athletes.

“We look forward to developing a long standing relationship with the foundation and encouraging more people onto bicycles in the future”.

As part of its community objectives local riders and athletes, alongside accredited cycle coaches, the CDF will host quarterly women only social rides (Liv Ride Perth), host monthly Ride2Work events in the Perth CBD for the thousands of Perth commuters and help deliver a series of cycling events across different disciplines.

CDF Secretary and spokesperson Mark Hedges said the ongoing and positive relationship with Giant Bicycles was instrumental in the success of the program and provides major financial benefit to up and coming riders who in turn played an important role as ambassadors for cycling.

“To receive this support from Giant Bicycles n WA is indicative of the success of the CDF and our racing teams and community programs over the past three years,” said Mr Hedges.

“The agreement reaches outside the scope of traditional sponsorship. In our model, riders will have an obligation to contribute to the wider community of cycling and therefore contributing to the long term sustainability and development of cycling at all levels in WA.

“We are excited that Giant Bicycles shares our objectives and we look forward to working together in 2017 and beyond,” said Mr Hedges.
